🎮 Why Gaming is More Than Just Play

When people hear video games, many still think “fun distraction” or “waste of time.” Honestly, I used to hear that a lot too. But the truth is… gaming today is way more than that—it’s one of the most exciting and fast-growing industries in the world.

A Growing Industry

Did you know the global games market is now bigger than film and music combined? 🤯 Every year new platforms, devices and ideas come in and completely change the way we

play. From VR to mobile to consoles—it never stops moving.

But beyond the big numbers, what really matters (at least to me) is how games connect people. A player in Tokyo can be in the same team with someone in Berlin, or compete against another player in São Paulo… in real time. It’s crazy when you think about it.

More Than Entertainment

Games aren’t just about “killing time.” They can be:

  • Training tools – pilots use flight sims, doctors practice with surgery sims.

  • Education – I’ve seen games teach math, history, even teamwork better than a classroom sometimes.

  • Social hubs – friendships, communities, even esports careers are born in games.

For many of us, games were the first thing that made us curious about technology, art, or storytelling.

The Creative Frontier

What I love most is how games mix everything together—art, design, music, writing, coding. It’s one of the few industries where so many creative minds have to work together to make something that feels alive. And players themselves also shape the experience, which is unique.

Looking Ahead

I work in the gaming space, and I’ll be posting weekly thoughts here. Some weeks it’ll be about development, sometimes publishing, sometimes just what inspires me in games. My hope is that people outside the industry will also see why this world matters.

👉 Do you think games are becoming the new “social networks”? Or are they already something even bigger?
